The Bedford Historical Society’s February program entitled “Lincoln’s Assassination,” that had to be cancelled due to Blizzard Nemo, has been rescheduled to Wednesday evening, Feb. 27 in Fellowship Hall of the First Church of Christ, Congregational.
The public is invited to attend this free lecture.
The program will begin at 7:30 pm with coffee and refreshments; guest speaker Christopher Daley will begin his talk around 8 pm. Daley developed his Lincoln presentation after years of research and travel. Beginning with the backdrop of the Civil War, he will examine how the assassination started as a kidnapping plot. Using photographs of the period and modern photographs, he will recount the horrific events of the assassination in stunning detail.
Daley, a history teacher and historical lecturer, also will document the escape and capture of John Wilkes Booth with photographs and video footage of where Booth hid and was killed. He will conclude his lecture with a vivid description of the trial and execution of the other four conspirators.
