Last weekend saw thousands of books move from the Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library’s storage area into the hands of delighted buyers during the Friends’ 2013 Spring Book Sale.

In addition to volunteers like Sheila Albrecht, who designed beautiful new signs to direct customers to the two parts of the sale (fiction books in the meeting room, and non-fiction in the Friends’ storage area behind the Circulation desk), more than 45 individuals helped to make the sale days a success, in addition to another 30 who helped with set-up and break-down.

Book Sale Chairperson Beverley Matthews said, “One of the dealers told me that the quality of our books is very high, and it’s one of the best book sales he has been to.” The Friends were delighted to hear his compliment, and, Matthews continued, “We feel that we get very diverse and interesting books that are a direct reflection of the community that we live in. That’s what makes the task of sorting the books so much fun.”

Donations of gently-used books are always welcome in the receiving area behind the Circulation Desk. The next Friends’ Book Sale will take place on Bedford Day weekend, September 20 to 23, 2013.
