On June 27, residents of Carleton-Willard Village presented a set of 19 DVDs to Bedford TV, representing oral histories from the World War II years.
Joining the residents to make the donation was videographer and Bedford resident Leslie Wittman, who produced the set of videos. The DVDs, along with 14 that were completed earlier with the help of Jan van Steenwijk, President of Bedford’s Historical Society, represent over a year’s worth of work on the part of Carleton-Willard’s residents to capture their memories of the war years and make them available for future generations.
In each video one or more residents is interviewed by another Village resident. The set of videos represents a great range of personal stories – from tales of landings on Iwo Jima and Normandy Beach to stories from the home front, working for the war effort or raising a family while the men were away.
