Bedford runners and walkers may be counting the days until Thanksgiving for many reasons, but one is surely the 7th running of Bedford’s annual Turkey Trot. Organized by Rich Hamilton to benefit Bedford’s Community Table and Food Pantry, registration for the Turkey Trot begins at 7 am at the John Glenn Middle School; walkers are scheduled to leave at 8 am, and runners will start at 8:10am.
“Last year we sold out with 220+ Runners/Walkers,” said Hamilton, “and [we] look to surpass our Donation of $4,800 to the Bedford Community Table/Pantry, Inc.” Funds are realized through runner donations; a $20 minimum is suggested.
Prizes for the top runners are donated by race sponsor Nancy Tripodi of Bedford Florist, with additional prizes for the oldest and youngest runners; the first walker to complete the course; the first pet finisher; the family with the most participants; and the runner who traveled the farthest to attend.
Hamilton especially appreciates the officers and members of the Class of 2014 who will earn community service credit by helping with race preparation, registration and course safety.
There will be no online registration this year, and each runner and walker is required to submit a liability waiver, with a parent/legal guardian completing a waiver on behalf of individuals under 18 years of age. To expedite onsite registration, Race Coordinator Rich Hamilton – [email protected] – will email the waiver so you can bring the completed form to the race.
