The following corrections need to be made: Article 18 is requesting an additional $215,000 to last years appropriation of $100,000 for the exterior project work to the Depot Building. The work is for new period correct siding and windows and a handicap ramp and new main entrance door. The cedar shingle roofing was completed in 2009 and is not part of this project. Depot Park was acquired after the town was awarded a $1,128,968 Federal Transportation enhancement grant in 1995 and additional state grants, gifts and donations in the years that followed. The Depot building has four rent-able units that provide most of the income to cover all operating costs for Depot Park along with income from the sale of food and beverages from the Freight House Building Welcome Center and the Budd-liner Rail Car rentals. There was no gift from the Stander Family. The Rail Car was donated to the Town by the Friends of Depot Park. The project included the new signalized intersection at the junction of South Road and Loomis Street along with bike-way parking on both sides of the road, public bathrooms, and much more. Over 87% of the total costs of Depot Park and the intersection improvement came from state, federal and private grants, gifts, and volunteer labor.
