A lot of asphalt was laid in Bedford today: Hartwell Road was resurfaced from Concord Road to the Edge Sports Center/Instrumentation Labs, and the School Way Area improvement project saw Elm Street, south of School Way resurfaced. Permanent reconstruction of the road will be scheduled next year according to Town Engineer Adrienne St. John (https://thebedfordcitizen.org/2014/08/14/hartwell-road-paving-scheduled-to-begin-on-august-18/)
Workers estimated that more than 25 trucks of paving material were installed on Foster Road, Rodney Road and Elm Street. Each of the roads were milled so that their old surface could be recycled into new asphalt/macadam. Richard Zucco, E.T.&L.Corp.’s Project Superintendent for the School Way project, noted that his crew is meeting their scheduled targets. Amazing to see the road surface appear: The paving material feeds directly from the dump truck into the paving machine and creates a new road surface as the machines move forward.
