The first session of the Council on Aging’s Middle East Lecture series took place on Monday, September 15, and was well attended. Meeting in the Multi-Purpose room at Town Hall, the attendees heard Professor John Kienzle give a lively beginning lecture, which included background material and information about the Middle East and concentrated on Iraq and Syria.

Professor Kienzle will present three more sessions that will include Iran, Israel and the Palestinians and will end with a talk about the “Arab Spring” and Egypt. A very impressive bibliography was handed out with a list of books for each of the four lectures.

The sessions meet from 6:30-8:30 and are free. Remaining sessions will meet on September 29, October 6, and October 20.
