On Bedford Day, Bedford TV gave the town a taste of the wide variety of local talent and informative content that appears on their channels.
The day started with local wrestling gurus Ken Hill and Zach Martinkus as they reflected on the thirty live episodes of The Wrestling Kennection that they have produced for Bedford TV before demonstrating one of their favorite wrestling moves for onlookers.
Later on, Gretchen Kind, host of the home decorating show The Fancy Kind, had a very different kind of demonstration for Bedford Day attendees as she showed how to make simple, fun fall decorations. Like all of Gretchen’s designs the decorations look like they took hours to make, but she broke the process down step by step and showed that it can be easy to make impressive displays without spending too much time or money.
Bedford TV hosts also took time to reflect on their experiences making programming for the station. Bedford Common host and Bedford TV board President Julie Turner moderated a roundtable with Mary Kay Elloian, host of The Legal Edition; Jenn Goldman, Bedford TV Administrator and host of the Bedford TV News; and Sandy Morvillo, host of Let’s Get Fit. The hosts shared their positive experiences with the station and Jenn Goldman commented that she would love to see more citizens of Bedford produce shows for Bedford TV saying, “Don’t be afraid come on down!”
The day also featured two local musicians who have previously performed on Bedford TV. First, BHS student Allen Zhou played a half hour set to a large crowd of fellow students and curious Bedford Day goers that consisted of songs off his forthcoming T.I.E. EP as well as selected covers. Local resident and Tibetan music expert Penpa Tsering also delighted the crowd with traditional Tibetan songs performed on the guitar.
The spotlight wasn’t limited to just Bedford TV talent though. Many local government officials and candidates for local office stopped by to talk about what is going on with their campaigns. Over the course of the day Bedford TV interviewed Masschusetts Attorney General and Gubernatorial Candidate Martha Coakley, Congressional Candidate Seth Moulton, State Senator Mike Barrett, State Representative Ken Gordon, and his opponent in the upcoming election Paul Girouard, Bedford’s Police Chief Robert Bongiorno also stopped by to talk about his experiences over the last four years and about Bedford Public Schools adoption of the ALICE protocol for crises response.
