The Kammerwerke Double Wind Quintet, a Bedford-based musical ensemble, will present its first concert of the 2015-16 season on Sunday, 22 November 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at The First Parish in Bedford Unitarian Universalist, 75 The Great Road, Bedford, MA.

Themed “Fall Folio” the concert will include works by Spanish composers Isaac Albeniz and Antonio Soler, British composers Sir Richard Rodney Bennett and Guy Woolfenden, and American Arthur Bird.

The double wind quintet (a.k.a dectet) is not well-known in America, but is quite common in Europe, especially Great Britain.  The uniqueness of the ensemble is that each of the ten instruments (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons and 2 horns) has its own voice resulting in a sound that is more like a chamber orchestra than a smaller ensemble.  With the addition of other instruments – in the case of this concert, English horn, bass clarinet and contrabassoon – the depth and breadth of sound can be truly remarkable.

Come hear for yourself.  Tickets are $20 Adults, $15 Seniors, Students and First Parish attendees, $10 13-18, under 12 Free.  Advance ticket reservations at [email protected] or at www.kammerwerke.org .  First Parish is handicapped accessible.
