Toys-for-LocalChief David Grunes is pleased to announce the start of the Bedford Fire Department’s annual food and toy drive, which will run from now until Dec. 22.

“The food and toy drive is a great way for the department to get together with the community for a wonderful cause, and we are always able to donate a lot of items to help make the holidays a joyous time for all,” Chief David Grunes said. “I would like to say a special thank you to Captain Mark Sullivan, who organizes this event each year. We couldn’t do it without him.”

The Bedford Fire Department collects new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. Many of the toys the department collects go to families in Bedford and additional toys are given to Toys for Local Children, an organization that provides toys for needy children in Eastern Massachusetts.

Through the food and toy drive, the Bedford Fire Department will also be collecting nonperishable food donations for the Bedford Food Pantry.

Residents who wish to make donations can drop them off at the Bedford Fire Department, 55 The Great Road.
