All Star Week at Wedgewood: Swimmers and Divers Shine

It was All Star Week at the Wedgewood Club where the top scoring swimmers and divers compete in the Colonial League All Stars.

The Colonial League all star teams are made up of top scoring divers from Wedgewood, Chelmsford Swim & Tennis, Heritage Swim and Tennis, Wayland Swim and Tennis and Westford Swim and Tennis. It’s a lively competition of East vs. West. Wedgewood is on the East team with Westford while Chelmsford, Heritage and Wayland make up the West.

The Wedgewood Divers took to the board at the All Star dive meet on July 18th and Wedgewood divers had an excellent showing.

Isabella Seldon took first for girls 12 and under with a score of 100.35, Maxwell Weisz placed first for 12 and under boys with a 89.45, Maya Driscoll took first for girls 14 and under with a 158.75 and Megan Demeo, the team’s assistant coach placed first for girls 17 and under with a score of 227.25.

The All Star Swim meet took place on Wednesday, July 20th and was hosted by Chelmsford. While the West team won there was excellent competition and great showings from Wedgewood swimmers. Jack MacPhee took first in the boys 15-17 yard backstroke and he also placed second in the boys 15-17 100 Yard IM. In the girls 9-10 year old 50 yard freestyle Ann Girifalco took second place and Julia Dearing took second place as well in the girls 11-12 50 yard freestyle. Wedgewood backstrokers placed high up with Liliana Carman placing second for girls 7-8 yard backstroke, Caitlin Pequeno placing 3rd for girls 13-14 and Julia Doucet placing second for girls 15-17 backstroke.

The most exciting and closest race was the girls 200 yard freestyle grad relay. The east team won with a score of 1:54:35 with McKenna Wilson, Ann Girifalco and Julia Dearing swimming for Wedgewood. The west team score was 1:54:38.

The following Wedgewood Swimmers earned points for the All Star East team: Willow McGinness, Jocelyn Bullard, Brielle Carman, Dylan Kenahan,Sanders Bertos, Katie Dillon, Grace Weisz, Leo Natalizio, Alexandra Zorn, Sarah Wirth, Lily Nemirovsky, Liliana Carman, Charles Demeo, Logan McGinness, Matthew Tonini, Isabella Seldon, Riley Stevens, Eric Miles, Julia Palazzo, Jeffrey Dillon, Kara Shelmire, Timothy Regan, Charlotte Weber, Sarah Tonini, Zachary Wirth, Madelyn Dearing, Jeffrey Dilllon, Kate Patterson, George Rackey, Mckenna Wilson, Jackson Stuzynski, Timothy Dillon, Sofie Huntington.
