The Library’s Art Steering Committee Exhibit ~ ‘Curators as Artists’ through August 31

2016-Curators-Poster-CROrganized by the Bedford Library’s Art Steering Committee, the building’s atrium gallery has displayed work by local and area artists in solo shows as well as group exhibits.

Through August 31 the group exhibit focuses on the Art Steering Committee’s three members: photographer Astrid Reischwitz, ceramic artist Carole Rissman, and book designer Jean Hammond.

About the Artists

A graduate of the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany, with a PhD in chemistry, Astrid Reischwitz began to study photography soon after moving to the United States.  A juried member of the Cambridge Art Association, she shows her work in a variety of venues.

Carol Rissman is a Resident Artist at the Harvard University Ceramics Studio. Her training comes from over 40 years of hands-on discovery and from generous teachers at local studios and at Haystack, Penland, and Anderson Ranch.

A multi-media collage artist, book designer Jean Hammond was the chair of the Graphic Design department at New England School of Art and Design. She is now a free-lance book designer teaching in the Graphic Arts department at Middlesex Community College.
