Scrimmage season starts on December 3 for the Bedford High School Boys basketball team, coached by Vincent McGrath. At the season opening celebration, starting at 6 pm in the BHS main gym, the varsity team will go through some of the standard drills they do in practice and they will ask for volunteers from the various recreation and travel teams to help them out.
The celebration will conclude with a scrimmage and an opportunity for players on the recreation and travel teams to challenge some of the varsity players to shooting contests. The event is free but is a major fundraiser to support the varsity team playing at TD Garden in January.
The boys’ basketball team will play their regular season game against rival Concord-Carlisle at the TD Garden on Sunday, January 8 at 5 pm. Their game is either the 6th or 7th scheduled game of the day. Part of the deal with getting to play at the TD Garden is that the team has been tasked with pre-selling 400 tickets to the event. The tickets are available for purchase in advance for $15 at the season opening celebration on December 3. Each ticket is good for all games played that day and are general admission.
The team is promoting this game and looking to pre-sell as many tickets as possible. Each ticket purchased at this event will come with a chance to win several prizes, including an official Bedford High School Basketball Duffel Bag, team-issued shooting shirts, and several other items.
