Bedford Police Announce Holiday Safety Initiatives for Retail Establishments and a Safe Zone for Internet Transactions

Compiled by The Bedford Citizen

Public Safety-BPDChief Robert Bongiorno has announced a pair of initiatives to keep Bedford and its residents safe during the holiday season: Operation PACE and an Internet Transaction Safe Zone.

Operation PACE returns for a second year. Surveillance of Bedford’s shopping areas proved a success in fighting crime, especially shop lifting during the 2015 holiday season.

A new program this year, the department’s Internet Transaction Safe Zone offers a safe place within the Police Station for individuals transacting business over the Internet and needing to deliver or collect items purchased online through channels such as Craigslist.

At the start of the holiday season, Chief Bongiorno offered tips to prevent package delivery theft.
