Burlington Town Meeting voted on Monday night (January 23) to change the zoning of the Landlocked Forest from General Industrial to Open Space, the correct designation for this treasure of open space in Burlington.

We hope that everyone understands that many people contributed to help make this happen, from volunteers building trails and boardwalks to Burlington residents calling their Town Meeting members, and all of the people working together for the past 9 years (and longer).

At Town Meeting, there was a vigorous debate, with strong opposition, and we still got a tremendous victory margin – 92 in favor, 11 opposed.

Editor’s Note: The Landlocked Forest is a popular destination for Bedford runners. Click to read Dan Brosgol’s story about running in the Landlocked Forest or click here to learn more about the efforts to save the land from industrial development.
