Bedford Democrats will Elect State Convention Delegates on February 25

February 8, 2017

Submitted by the Bedford Democratic Town Committee

In order to elect 8 delegates and 4 alternates to the 2017 Massachusetts Democratic Convention, registered Democrats in Bedford will hold a caucus on Saturday, February 25 at 9 am in the Flint Room at Town Center, 12 Mudge Way.

Democrats from across Massachusetts will gather to adopt the new platform at the party’s convention to be held on Saturday, June 3rd at Lowell’s Tsongas Arena.

“People are excited about politics and want to make a difference. Our caucuses are a great opportunity for those who are interested to get involved,” commented Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford. “Delegates will be voting on our party platform in Lowell, and we want to make sure that every Democrat has a voice. This is a time to come together and speak to our shared Democratic values.”

The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Bedford, and the Democratic Town Committee welcomes participants. Pre-registered Democrats who will be age 18 by September 11, 2018, the anticipated date of the next state primary, will be able to participate in the caucus and run for delegate.

Delegates will be divided equally between men and women, and all contested ballots will be written and secret. In the spirit of inclusion, youth, minorities, and people with disabilities who are not elected as delegates or alternates may apply to be add-on delegates, either at the caucus on February 25 or online at www.massdems.org

The Bedford Democratic Town Committee will meet immediately following the caucus, and the meeting is open to all interested voters.
