Hazardous Waste Collection Dates for 2017

Submitted by the Bedford Board of Health

The Town of Bedford is pleased to announce the 2017 schedule for collection of Hazardous Household Products. The season’s first event on Saturday, April 15 will take place at the Samuel Hadley Public Services Building (Lexington DPW), 201 Bedford Street in Lexington.

Monthly collections from May through November will take place at the Town of Lexington Landfill Site, 60 Hartwell Avenue, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the following dates (which are Saturdays unless otherwise indicated):  May 13, June 17, July 15, August 12, September 17 (this is a Sunday), October 14 and November 4.

Pre-registration is not required and the event is free of charge to Bedford residents. However, when you attend the event, you must show an ID or utility bill displaying your Bedford address.

Certain materials are not accepted as household waste at the event. Please view the list of acceptable and unacceptable materials under the Household Hazardous Waste tab on the on the Board of Health website – www.bedfordma.gov/health or call the Board of Health for this information.

Consider Making Hazardous Waste Collection a Neighborhood Event

In an effort to be efficient and to keep costs down, we ask you to come to the event with at least 10 gallons or 10 pounds of waste materials. That is the minimum per car for which we are charged. You can reach this amount by bringing your neighbors’ household hazardous wastes to the event along with yours. Please remember these safety tips: ensure waste containers are secured for transport; never mix chemicals; store different items in different boxes; always leave materials in their original containers; do not smoke while handling or transporting materials.

We hope you will participate in this important program which helps to ensure proper disposal of hazardous wastes from your home.

Please contact the Board of Health at 781-275-6507 with any questions.
