Sabourin Field will be populated from Saturday, May 20 through Sunday morning, May 21 when Bedford’s annual Relay for Life raises funds (and fun!) for the American Cancer Society.
The event kicks off at 4 pm on Saturday afternoon but team members have been organizing and raising pledges since mid-Winter. While supporters and survivors walk the track, during the late afternoon, through the night and into the morning, teams will be camping on the turf. There will be games, food, and the event’s signature Luminaria lap at 9 pm.
Luminaria to honor survivors or anyone who has lost their battle with cancer are placed around the track, the field lights are dimmed, and the entire crowd makes a silent lap around the field.
It’s not too late to form a team, or participate as an individual. Click this link to sign up. If staying up all night isn’t your thing but you’d like to support Bedford’s Relay, click this link and dedicate a Luminaria to someone you cherish.
And, in the end, stop by Sabourin Field on Saturday to catch some of the magic when the lights go out for the Luminaria Lap.
