Compiled by The Bedford Citizen

The Bedford Culture and Arts Working Group meets to discuss multiple initiatives that would elevate Bedford’s cultural and arts community as well as enliven Bedford places, gatherings, and business climate.

The Working Group has participants from the Selectmen, the Planning Board, the Bedford Cultural Council, the Bedford Schools, and the Historic Preservation Commission; local organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, First Parish, the Bedford Public Schools, the Bedford Arts and Crafts Society, the BCA Photo Group, and The Bedford Citizen; several local artists and businesses.

Among the Working Group’s several initiatives:

  • Developing a list of commercial spaces willing to showcase local artists
  • Designing a community-wide art program, perhaps to decorate utility boxes that come under the Town’s control
  • Publishing a Bedford Culture and Arts Events flyer

If you you know of a business that would be interested in hosting wall or window space for local artists, please contact Alyssa Sandoval, Economic Development Director, at [email protected] or 718-275-1111. Hosting local art in your business can increase the visibility of your business, encourage repeat customers, as well as helping to highlight the work of local artists.

Editor’s Note: Part II of this series will review Bedford’s many cultural, artistic, and historic assets
