Letter to the Editor: July 21, 2017 – Sustainable Bedford ~ Community Conversations Begin on Monday

By Renu Bostwick
Bedford Mothers Out Front

As a mother of two teenage daughters, I have stopped worrying about them crossing the street alone but have been worrying more about the world that they will inherit from us. I see that if we do nothing to curb fossil-fuel use, our children will be inheriting a world of climate chaos where everything they do will be harder than it was for us.

I am very glad that Bedford is taking steps to do our part to collectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions through two exciting initiatives: Community Choice Aggregation and Net Zero Planning. Bedford’s Mothers Out Front team is hosting a series of informal, informative conversations about these topics.

Come hear about these two exciting initiatives in town that will make Bedford a cleaner, greener place to live. Community Choice Aggregation is a way for Bedford residents to get more carbon-free renewable electricity without increased prices. Net Zero Planning will develop a long term strategic plan for reducing energy use in Town and increasing renewable energy production.

The first Community Conversation is this coming Monday, hosted by The Prince Street Cafe. Stay tuned for other times and locations in the coming weeks.

What: Sustainable Bedford Community Conversations on CCA and NZ
When: Monday, July 24 at 10am
Where: Prince Street Cafe, 200 The Great Rd, Bedford, MA

Come hear about these initiatives and enjoy a cup of coffee and a delicious Italian pastry as well!  Bring a friend; everyone is welcome!
