Town Government at Work: Week of July 10, 2017

After a hiatus surrounding the July 4 holiday, Town boards and committees are once again in full swing.

The Board of Health will meet on Monday, July 10 at 7:00 pm in the Fitch Room at Town Center. On their agenda is a “Keeping of Animals” permit for 24 Hilltop Drive.  They will also review two proposed amendments to tobacco regulations, one on workplace smoking and another on retail sales.

On Tuesday, July 11 the Library Trustees will review the close of the FY17 budget and discuss the Bowie Knife. (A Bowie knife is a type of fixed blade knife.) The knife is an antique that was given to the library many years ago and is believed to have once belonged to Davy Crockett.) The meeting is at 7:00 pm in the library meeting room.

The School Committee will meet at 7:30 in the large instruction meeting at Bedford High School.  The public meeting is preceded by an executive session at 6:30 to consider non-union contracts.  A major item on their agenda is the Davis School Feasibility Study.

Also on July 11 is a meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission.  Their agenda is a continuing discussion including the Status of a Demolition Delay Bylaw change; an update on Willson Park planning; and a possible tax incentive for rehabilitation of historic buildings. In addition, the Arbor Resources Committee will also meet July 11, 2017 – 7:30 pm

On July 12, the Conservation Commission will meet at 7:00 pm.  Also on July 12 at 7:30 the Capital Expenditure Committee will take a first look at capital plans for the coming fiscal years, FY20-24, and the ad hoc Dog Park Task Force will meet.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is holding a public hearing on a request to demolish a building at 324 Concord Road and replace it with a larger house on a non-conforming lot. Three previously held hearings are continuing.

The Volunteer Coordinating Committee will meet on July 13, 2017 at 7:30 pm. Also, thatevening the Energy Task Force will discuss community aggregation and energy policy and guidelines.  They will consider their agenda for the coming year.
