Letter to the Editor, August 4, 2017: Public Meeting to Review Lane School’s Proposed Tree Removal and Mitigation Plans

By Jacqueline Edwards
Chair, Bedford Arbor Resources Committee (BARC)

First Informal Arbor Resource Committee (BARC) / Tree Warden Meeting to review Lane School Project’s Proposed Tree Removal and Mitigation Plans will take place on Tuesday, August 8 at 7:30 pm at Town Hall

This first “Informal Meeting” marks a move toward increased transparency and community inclusion regarding public review of Town projects that involve removal of trees. It will be held during a regularly-scheduled meeting of BARC this Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., in the first-floor conference room of Town Hall. This meeting, like all Town committee meetings, is open to the public.

Director of the Department of Public Works, David Manugian; acting Tree Warden, Dennis Freeman; and the Arbor Resource Committee (BARC) will meet with the Town’s representatives of the current development project at Lane School to discuss the removal of numerous trees and their mitigation plans for any disturbance to abutters, as well as for the loss of a valuable town asset.

The format is designed to be informal in order to encourage a comfortable, cooperative discussion whose aim is to address and, hopefully, satisfy the needs of all parties to the extent possible.
