Bedford schools are on a 2-hour delay this morning due to the impact of the Sunday night storm.

According to reports, a downed tree and power lines on Railroad Ave are affecting access to John Glenn Middle School. The Middle School Parents Association cautions parents to use Concord Road to McMahon Road for morning drop-off.

According to Bedford Citizen reporter/editor Dot Bergin, the power went off when a tree fell on Hayden Lane around 1:30 am on Monday morning. In reporting the outage to Eversource, Bergin learned that hers was the first report from Bedford. Subsequently, the power went out in other neighborhoods, and this morning 149 residences, Bergin’s among them, remain dark.

A large part of a tree standing tall on the property when the Couvee family purchased Chip-in Farm came down in the storm. Paul Couvee shared the images illustrating this article, noting that the family will count the tree’s rings when the main trunk is removed. He also reported that the tree fell in an advantageous a place without damaging buildings, cars, or livestock.
