If your family is planning a visit from Bedford Santa, don’t forget that Gift Drop Day is this Saturday, December 16 from 9 am to 5 pm in the gym at the John Glenn Middle School. Park in the back parking lot.

You’ll find two lines of Elves inside the gym.  If the street name for your delivery address starts with the letters A to L, choose the right-hand line, or the left for streets beginning with M to Z. You will be asked to verify a contact phone number to be used between now and Christmas Eve should problems arise. A business phone won’t help: Bedford Santa needs a number that will be answered on Sunday, December 17 and Sunday, December 24

Santa can deliver one present for each child, and it should be smaller than 10″x7″x3″ in size. Attach a post-it note or equivalent to each gift with the family name and delivery address on the front, and the child’s name and age on the back. All gifts for each delivery address should be wrapped in the same paper, and be delivered together if possible. If that can’t happen, please let your Elven volunteer know.

Santa leaves the Bedford Branch of the North Pole at 5:30 pm on Christmas Eve and aims to have seen all of Bedford’s children by 8 pm.  Santa asks that families be home the whole time, if that’s not possible, alert your Elven volunteer on drop day.

Bedford’s Community Santa program began in 1946, and bad weather has never canceled either Gift Drop Day or Christmas Eve.  Last year over 1,700 presents were delivered to 465 families by 31teams.

Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Ennis and her team of experienced Elves have been responsible for the smooth operation of Gift Drop Day’s massive volunteer effort for many years. Linda Plumley manages the teams of volunteer Elves for Christmas Eve;  Jennifer Stewart manages the website; Jim Paton handles database management; Lorraine Griecci is the past chairman; David Dalrymple handles Sort Day and special arrangements.
