Wreaths Honor Heroes at Bedford’s American Legion Post

Deb Howard, President of the Bedford American Legion Auxiliary, and John Monahan, Bedford Legion Executive Board Member, placed three wreaths in front of the Anthony-Hunt-Hamilton American Legion Post 221 in honor and remembrance of Stanley Thomas Anthony, Hughs I. Hunt, and William W. Hamilton, for whom the post is named.  All three men were from Bedford and died while serving their country.

Wreaths were also placed at Veterans Memorial Park on Great Road, and at Veterans Row in Shawsheen Cemetery.

The American Legion is a not-for-profit organization.  The Bedford American Legion family provides activities for the Veterans at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital on Springs Road in Bedford such as bingo, barbecue lunches, and Mexican-themed lunches held off-site at the Legion.  Events are held for Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, POW/MIA, Veteran’s Day, as well as a Mother’s Day Breakfast, Thanksgiving Dinner for Seniors, and children’s Christmas Party with Santa. The Bedford Legion also actively charters Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops and provides scholarships to local high school students.  These programs are made possible by community support and Legion members who volunteer their time and effort
