Late on Saturday afternoon Hanscom Air Force Base tweeted the following message:

The federal government shutdown will have significant effects at Hanscom Air Force Base. While all military personnel will continue to work as usual, the majority of Hanscom civilian personnel are expected to be furloughed.

Because civilian personnel, in concert with civilian support contractors, comprise the majority of Hansom’s total workforce, Hanscom may be disproportionately affected by the shutdown.

Therefore, we encourage all who rely on or routinely does business w/Hanscom AFB to consult the telephone listing & call to find out whether a specific function/facility is open, & if so, whether operations are functioning normally or if service hours & levels have been reduced. Click this link to access a PDF of key telephone listing on the base.

As we have constrained resources, we are going to have to focus on supporting our core missions. We appreciate the public’s understanding during this difficult time and hope to be back to normal operations as soon as possible.
