Although I was trained as a painter, the joy I receive from creating has led me to utilize many different materials. Each offers very different responses and possibilities for the creative process and for the resulting finished piece of work. Creative problem-solving in my personal art and with others is a process I particularly enjoy. Looking at an idea or concept and holding it up to the light to discover various options can generate more energy. Opening to this discovery process can also ignite further questioning by deepening one’s inquiry and by bringing the quality of one’s project to a richer and more connecting level.

Memories push my pencil. Each line/mark of the graphite connects me to a time and place from my life on a farm in Indiana where isolation surrounded me. In search of a relationship I could trust, I found that the farm animals provided me with ears to empty my heart and begin to establish an identity – until the fateful day when each of them was sent off to market. And I lost that precious connection.
