Town Government at Work for the Week of January 22, 2017

With important meetings on the coming week’s docket – Selectmen, Planning Board, School Committee, and Finance Committee — it’s clear that Bedford’s on the road to Annual Town Meeting!

On Monday, January 22  the Selectmen will hear an update on the DASH (local transit) pilot project. They will review the proposed 2019 operating budget.  Included is a request from the Recreation Commission that a portion of the Springs Brook Park costs be supported by the Town’s operating budget. Currently, the park is supported primarily through Recreation Department user fees.

On January 23 the Planning Board will have two hearings of major import both in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room. First at 7:30 is a hearing on the Great Road Zoning Project related to the Limited Business and General Business Districts along The Great Road and North Road.

The second hearing at 8:45 is on proposed zoning for the Military Housing Reuse Overlay District known as the Coast Guard housing property. The Planning Board plans to make its recommendation at Special Town Meeting.

Both hearings are in the Selectmen’s Room.

Also on January 23, the Hanscom Field Advisory Commission will hear a report from MassPort at 7:00 pm on capital programs and third-party development projects. They are meeting in Room 308 at the Civil Air Terminal.

School Committee
The School Committee’s January 23 agenda highlights include a presentation on an unleveled senior course in English language arts and a presentation on the proposed FY19 budget. The committee meets in the large instruction room at the high school at 7:30 pm.

The Finance Committee is meeting January 25 at 7:30 pm The Board of Health is scheduled to present its FY19 budget request.
