Submitted by the Music Committee at First Parish

The 8th Annual Valentine’s Day Concert presented by the Music Committee at First Parish on Bedford Common will take place on Sunday, February 11 at 4 pm in the sanctuary of the historic meetinghouse.

The theme of this year’s concert is You Don’t Have to Know the Language. According to Music Director Brad Connor, “In case you were wondering, there will be love songs sung in seven languages:  English, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. The songs will mention Africa, Alaska, Bermuda, Boston, Brazil, The Caribbean, China, Denmark, England, France, London, Haiti, Hindustan, Holland, Italy, Madagascar, Moscow, New York, Panama, Paris, Persia, The Riviera, Rome, Russia, Sahara Dessert, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Trinidad, Virgin Islands, Washington, D.C., Waterloo and the West Indies.”

Performers will include vocalists Cynthia Mork and Ben Sears accompanied by Conner on piano and Nathan Kimball on cello. They’ll perform classics like “A Foggy Day in London Town,” “Three Coins in a Fountain,” “Slow Boat to China,” and “Brazil.”

Esteemed Boston pianist Leslie Amper will perform music from around the world, including compositions by Debussy in honor of the centenary of the composer’s death.

And, if that’s not enough, the concert will be followed by its legendary, scrumptious, and now traditional chocolate reception!

The suggested donation is $20 per person for adults and $15 for seniors and students.

First Parish is located on Bedford Common, at 75 The Great Road (Rtes. 4/62/225) For additional information, please call the church office, 781-275-7994, or visit www.uubedford.org
