Bedford Saves Energy, One House at a Time

Submitted by Sue Swanson for Mothers Out Front

Remember the yard signs about gas leaks or the red shopping bags supporting Bedford’s NetZero initiative?  They represented earlier campaigns by the Bedford team of Mothers Out Front to reduce the use of fossil fuels in our town.  Mothers Out Front is passionate about reducing the effects of fossil fuel consumption on our planet and our children’s future!

And we are not alone!  Last fall, Special Town Meeting voted to begin the journey toward becoming a Net Zero community.  This vote showed Bedford’s commitment to reducing the town’s dependence on fossil fuels through a combination of greater energy efficiency and an increased use of renewably sourced energy.

We invite you to become a “Hero for Net Zero” by participating in our new campaign: “Bedford Saves Energy, One House at a Time!” Save money, reduce energy use, and help move Bedford closer to becoming a Net Zero community.  A Mass Save® No-Cost Home Energy Assessment is a straight-forward way to increase energy efficiency in your home and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

To perform these assessments, Mothers Out Front is collaborating with long-time Bedford resident Dan Carroll and his company Revise Energy Inc., which is a proud partner in the Mass Save® program.  Dan moved to Bedford as a child in 1976 and has worked as a civilian dispatcher for Bedford’s police and fire departments. More recently, he ran a town-wide fundraiser to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, receiving a Civilian Service Citation in 2013 for his efforts.  He is an active contributing member of our community and Mothers Out Front is excited to be working with him on this project!

Over the next few weeks, all town residents will receive a mailing that gives more details about the program and the benefits participants can receive.  In addition, Revise Energy canvassers will be knocking on our doors to personally invite residents to participate.  While the mailings will be sent to everyone, only single-family homeowners are able to participate in this campaign.  Renters and owners of units in multi-family buildings can still get home energy assessments but must book these through Mass Save® directly.

Be a Hero for Net Zero! Read the letter, talk with the canvasser, and visit our website (NetZeroBedfordMA.org) to schedule your energy assessment.  When asked how you heard about Revise Energy, please check the box for Mothers Out Front – Bedford.  If you have questions for Mothers Out Front, please call (781) 514- 6488. You can reach Revise Energy at (800) 855-SAVE.
