The Hanscom Field Advisory Commission met on May 15 at the Civil Air Terminal.  Massport representatives gave a presentation on the status of plans to construct a new Airport Rescue and Firefighting/Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) facility.  The current ARFF and CBP facilities do not meet modern standards.
Construction is scheduled to start in June 2018 and be completed by April 2019.
In response to questions from attendees, Massport stated that construction vehicles will only be allowed to access the site via Route 128 to route 2A, entering the field along Hanscom Drive.  In addition, the CBP facility will not be used as a detention center or deportation facility for illegal immigrants.

Massport representatives committed to posting the presentation from the meeting on the Massport website.  Click the following link to a presentation by the architect which shows the location and design of the new facility: https://www.massport.com/capitalprogramsattachments/H275-C1/H275-C1%20Prequalifications.indd.pdf

April Noise Report

The review of the April noise report generated numerous questions from local residents.  Questions were raised on the mathematical models used to convert raw noise readings from the six noise monitors currently deployed into reported average noise levels and noise level contour maps of Hanscom and surrounding towns.

Due to the level of interest expressed, Massport committed to having individuals with greater expertise in the monitoring and modeling systems available when the next annual noise report is reviewed at HFAC. Next Meeting

The date of the next HFAC meeting is June 19. HFAC meets in the Civil Air Terminal at Hanscom Field.
