Several hundred residents, first responders, Veterans, and multiple dignitaries gathered at the Bedford boat ramp on Friday afternoon to dedicate the Rte. 225 bridge across the Concord River to Private First Class John Hart and Lance Corporal Travis Desiato.

The Bedford men lost their lives in Afghanistan just over a year apart in 2003 and 2004.

While the ceremonies were underway, Bedford’s intrepid DPW staff installed the new signs at each end of the newly repaved bridge.

Huzzahs, and congratulations to State Rep Ken Gordon and State Senator Mike Barrett who marshaled the forces needed to bring off what could be called one of Bedford’s best Memorial Day weekend kick-offs in history.

There’s much more to say, in words and in pictures. Please stay tuned!
