The Bedford Citizen learned on Thursday, June 21 that Planning Board member Tim Gray has retired from the board. In an email, Gray said, “I was finding I was having difficulty gracefully balancing my work demands with Planning. [The board] and our fellow Bedfordites deserve someone who can give him/herself more fully to the duties.”

The Town has shared the procedure for filling Gray’s vacancy.

An interim appointment will be made at a joint meeting of the remaining Planning Board Members and the Bedford Selectmen in the near future.

The appointment will run through March 2019.  On March 9, 2019, an election for the remaining years of the vacated term will be conducted. The interim Planning Board Member may choose to run for election on March 9, 2019, or resign.

The Planning Board has five elected members. Registered voters interested in volunteering are encouraged to attend one or more Planning Board meetings scheduled for June 26, July 10or July 24 at 7:30 pm in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room at Bedford Town Hall.

Registered voters interested in the position must submit a Volunteer Questionnaire to the Town Manager’s Office by postal mail or by email to [email protected]; the questionnaire is available at Town Hall, or on the Town of Bedford’s website, www.bedfordma.gov.

The deadline for submitting questionnaires is Wednesday, July 31, 2018.
