Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Bedford Garden Club’s annual sale of geraniums, perennials, edibles, hanging floral baskets and fresh cut flower arrangements is planned for Saturday, May 11th in front of the Bedford DPW Building, 314 The Great Road.
Starting at 10 am, the sale will offer floral arrangements in two sizes that are great gifts for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12th. All arrangements will be designed by Club members, led by Civic Committee Chair Jan Burnes.
Also to be sold are hundreds of the most popular colors of geraniums (red, white, pink, hot pink, and coral), Elatior begonias, creeping phlox, Gerbera daisies and cascading verbena as well as perennials donated from the yards of Garden Club members – all to raise funds for the Club’s civic activities and scholarship program.
Hanging baskets filled with selections of ivy geraniums, begonias, calibrachoa or fuchsia are always popular, and tend to sell out quickly. A selection of vegetables and herbs also will be sold this year.
This event is the Garden Club’s big fundraiser for the year, and will be held rain or shine from 10 am – 3 pm. Sale coordinator is Carol Amick; her committee includes Claire Austin-White, Jan Burnes, Bobbie Ennis, Maureen Levine, Christine McGovern, Emily O’Hara and Zoe Pierce.
