Each year the Bedford Minutemen have held Pole Capping. What is it? A young man climbs a pole following the parade from the Town Common to Willson Park, pausing as they pass the Fitch Tavern. The pole is capped with a red cap, signifying our fight for freedom, dating to April 19, 1775.
Come to the Bedford Town Common on Saturday, April 8, 10:30 AM for the parade of Minuteman Companies marching to Willson Park. Watch this colonial re-enactment event, as our Pole Climber climbs up the pole and places a Liberty Cap on top to protest against the King of England. Be prepared to shout “Huzzah!”
It is a great event, sponsored with the Town of Bedford. We are also looking for new members to join the Minuteman Company of Bedford.
