Local Weather Alert for Bedford: Heat Advisory Until 7 pm today

Today’s heat’s good for sunflowers and bees, but not necessarily good for humans.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Advisory for Central Middlesex County, including Bedford, from 1 until 7 pm on Tuesday, July 17, with heat index values up to 104 degrees, dewpoints near 70 and air temperatures in the upper 90s.

The NWS advises that a combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses can occur.

They suggest that individuals avoid prolonged work in the sun or in poorly ventilated areas if possible. Drink plenty of fluids; stay in an air-conditioned environment, or out of the sun.

And don’t forget to check in on your neighbors, especially if they’re living by themselves!
