The Bedford Farmers’ Market and the Bedford Free Public Library will host a screening of How I Fell in Love With a Fish, featuring James Beard Award-winning chef Dan Barber on Tuesday, July 10 at 7:30 pm in the meeting room of the Bedford Free Public Library, 7 Mudge Way. After the screening, there will be a facilitated, interactive discussion about the film and innovations in sustainable farming.
Barber’s talk describes the difference between conventional fish farming and sustainable fish farming and illustrates the difference and highlights a better type of system for producing food in a hungry, growing world. How I Fell in Love with a Fish was originally presented at the TED Conference in 2010.
From the TED website: “Barber squares off with a dilemma facing many chefs today: how to keep fish on the menu. With impeccable research and deadpan humor, he chronicles his pursuit of a sustainable fish he could love, and the foodie’s honeymoon he’s enjoyed since discovering an outrageously delicious fish, raised using a revolutionary farming method in Spain.”
This is the first of a three program series hosted by the Bedford Farmers’ Market at the Bedford Free Public Library about food and about how we feed ourselves. Future programs will take place in September and January.
