According to WCVB-TV, it was a 4.5 magnitude event centered in Lake Arrowhead, Maine.

A rolling disquieting crescendo that rattled the bones of our house and sent me cellar bound to put out the fire that must surely have erupted when the furnace blew up.
Gosh, David, all I got out here on Concord Road was a whomping thump, a bit of a rumble and having to reach out to steady the computer monitor as it waved to and fro. Nothing like a ‘real’ earthquake, but nonetheless startling for this neighborhood!
I was in the living room and felt it without knowing what the heck it was. Distinctive and real and unsettling, but maybe indigestion. I hadn’t decided it happened outside of my own head yet when Sarah said the dishes rattled in the cupboards. I sat there for a moment taking inventory of the possible sources. A plane crash? A semi thundering down our suburban back road? A plane crash? Then it occurred to me that the furnace must have finally given in, and straight away I began to hope the fire extinguisher sitting next to it for the last (I honestly don’t know how many years) still worked…
Of course, then we checked twitter to find out what happened.
