North Road Sidewalk Construction Has Begun

Stakes are posted and trees have are down along North Road

Director of Public Works Rich Warrington reports that work on the long-awaited sidewalk along North Road has begun. All discussions about trees with residents on the west side of the road between Carlisle Road and Harvard Drive have been completed and the trees that needed to be taken down have been removed.

Before the project is completed, pedestrian-activated crosswalk lights with flashing yellow beams will be installed at the North Road and Carlisle Road intersection and also at Harvard Drive, where it is envisioned that the sidewalk will be shifted to the east side of the street. The current goal is for the sidewalk to wrap around the corner at Pine Hill Road where in a subsequent project it will eventually be connected to already existing sidewalk further up Pine Hill.

“We’re trying to fit [the North Road sidewalk project] into a schedule and we’d like to get it in before the snow flies,” said Warrington. “It all depends on the timing.”
