At the School Committee meeting on December 4, Superintendent Jon Sills announced that he is extending the timeframe for the principal search for Davis School.  Applications for the position will now be accepted until January 11.

“[Assistant Superintendent Dr. Claire Jackson] and I have carefully culled through all the resumes,” Sills said.“We found a number of strong resumes, but we aren’t satisfied that the pool is large enough to begin with. We’ve contacted all the potential candidates that we’re interested in and they are happy to keep their hats in the ring.

“We’re going to be re-advertising in the Boston Globe and in all of the job posting venues that we use. We’re hoping to get a few more and flesh out that pool. Then we’ll be ready to go.”

The search for a new Davis School principal has been plagued repeatedly by a lack of candidates that matched Bedford’s needs.

Current interim principal Nancy Peterson is a retired educator with extensive leadership experience during her career in the greater Boston area. Peterson agreed to serve as head of the Davis School for first one and then for a second year when the search for a permanent principal did not yield enough viable candidates.
