Special to The Citizen from the Bedford Fire Department

Like many organizations, the Bedford Fire Department sponsors a toy drive at the fire station each year.

“Typically, a portion of the gifts donated at the fire department each year are forwarded to the regional program we work with ‘toys for local children’,” according to Fire Chief David Grunes. “This year, gifts went to three local families, each of which wrote a letter requesting assistance this holiday season.”

According to Chief Grunes, local requests were down slightly this year; typically the Fire Department delivers gifts to more than 25 Bedford families.

The Fire Department’s administrative assistant Sharon Cozzi helps Captain Mark Sullivan with the logistics, but all of the firefighters participate in the toy drive.
