I recently announced my intention to seek re-election to the Shawsheen Valley Regional Technical School District School Committee.  Shawsheen Technical was recently recognized as one of the few Commendation High Schools in Massachusetts due to its amazing success.  It is the only Vocational Technical High School in the state in receipt of this honor, and other than Lexington High School, the only one in our area.”

As a member of the School Committee, I promoted high standards and sought those employed by us to meet significant benchmarks to ensure excellent educational opportunities for students.  We have an exceptional four year graduation rate of 98.1%, an extraordinary low annual drop-out rate of 0.2%, an average daily attendance rate for pupils at 97%, and the highest percentage of students meeting MCAS proficiency in the region.  I am proud of these accomplishments and respectfully ask the citizens of Bedford the opportunity to continue my service”.

Drouin has served on the Shawsheen Technical School Committee for five terms.  His colleagues have elected him as an officer for the past six years, serving as both School Board Secretary and Treasurer.  He has been a practicing attorney in Bedford for the past sixteen years.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and his MBA Degree in Finance from Suffolk University.  At age 55, he entered Law School and graduated from Southern New England School of Law in 1997.  He has been a Public Defender with the Committee for Public Counsel Services and a Mental Health Attorney for CPCS for the past sixteen years.

He was appointed in 1980 to the Bedford Capital Expenditure Committee by the Bedford Board of Selectmen.  He has been an active member of the Bedford Democratic Town Committee for decades, and has been a resident in Bedford for 33 years. As a single parent, he raised his daughter Michele, who benefitted from the Bedford school system and is a graduate of Bedford High School.

He was a strong proponent of the Shawsheen Valley Technical, Town of Bedford, and Habitat for Humanity affordable housing partnership on North Road.

“I have strived to be a prudent and wise steward monitoring the Shawsheen School Budget.  Total costs from Shawsheen to Bedford next year will increase by only $268.”

“Shawsheen Tech’s relationship with Bedford has been tremendous.  Early in my service Shawsheen renovated the facilities for the community at Springs Brook Park.  During the past six years, the Town has supported bond issues to replace the school roof, doors, windows, and heating and ventilation systems, and a new life science wing to expand new programs for students in health assisting, medical assisting, and dental assisting.  My passion for service is buoyed by these experiences,  and I respectfully seek my Bedford neighbors support for my re-election.”.  .    .
