Students Recognized in Boston Globe Scholastic Art Competition

Superintendent Jon Sills announced at Tuesday night’s School Committee meeting that Bedford students had received multiple citations for submissions to this year’s Boston Globe Scholastic Art competition.

“Students from the high school and JGMS submitted pieces and we did very well,” said Sills.

Besides the high school students listed below, three students at the middle school received awards: Ava Altmann, Silver Key; Savannah En, Honorable Mention; Sonia Shah, Honorable Mention.

The Bedford High Students who received awards this year are:

  • Linda Bittenson, Honorable Mention. Ceramics & Glass: Sushi Plate.  Davis Teacher: Aleta Devaney
  • Albert Chen, Silver Key. Drawing: “Where’s Waldo?” Teacher: Larry Sheinfeld
  • Pei-Yun Chu, Gold Key.  Painting: “Atlantic Cod.” Teacher: Whitney Davis
  • Catherine Donato, Honorable Mention. Sculpture: “Henry.” Teacher: Eileen Wagner
  • Madeline Dunn, Honorable Mention. Ceramics & Glass: “Bamboo Vessel.” Teacher: Aleta Devaney
  • Nili Ezekiel, Silver Key. Sculpture: “Pumpkin.” Teacher: Aleta Devaney
  • Karlana Fronk, Honorable Mention. Comic Art: “Crystal in the Woods.” Teacher: Eileen Wagner
  • Gwen Gardner, Silver Key. Drawing: “Temple Bar.” Teacher: Whitney Davis
  • Gwen Gardner, Honorable Mention. Drawing: “Steam Powered.” Teacher: Whitney Davis
  • Erica Hsiung, Honorable Mention Sculpture: “Whale Is The Soap?” Teacher: Aleta Devaney
