The Town of Bedford is pleased to announce the 2013 schedule for collection of Hazardous Household Products.

Please note that while the event is free of charge to Bedford residents, advanced registration is required.

You can acquire your color coded registration form at the Bedford Board of Health, Town Center, 12 Mudge Way, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. You can also call the office at 781-275-6507 to register and the form can be sent to you. You must have the form with you when you attend the event.

As in past years, the collection will take place at the Town of Lexington Landfill Site at 60 Hartwell Avenue from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the following dates (which are Saturdays unless otherwise indicated):

  • April 20th
  • May 18th
  • June 15th
  • July 20th
  • August 17th
  • September 15th (this is a SUNDAY)
  • October 19th and
  • November 9th.

Certain materials are not accepted as household waste at the event. Please view the list of acceptable and unacceptable materials under the Household Hazardous Waste tab on the on the Board of Health website – www.bedfordma.gov/health or call the Board of Health for this information.

In an effort to be efficient and to keep costs down, we ask you to come to the event with at least 10 gallons or 10 pounds of waste materials. That is the minimum per car for which we are charged. You can reach this amount by bringing your neighbors’ household hazardous wastes to the event along with yours. Please remember these safety tips: ensure waste containers are secured for transport; never mix chemicals; store different items in different boxes; always leave materials in their original containers; and do not smoke while handling or transporting materials.

We hope you will participate in this important program which helps to ensure proper disposal of hazardous wastes from your home. Please contact the Board of Health at 781-275-6507 with any questions.
