Caroline Fedele and Bill Moonan were sworn in as duly elected Selectmen by Town Clerk Doreen Tremblay at the start of the Selectmen’s meeting on Monday night and departing Selectman Cathy Cordes was awarded a citation from the Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for her service to the town.
Bedford resident and State Representative Ken Gordon presented Cordes with the citation which reads:
Be it hereby known to all that the Massachusetts House of Representatives offers its sincerest congratulations to Catherine B. Cordes in recognition of her 12+ years of service as a Bedford Selectman and her 24 years of service to the Town of Bedford.
The entire membership extends its very best wishes and expresses its hope for future good fortune and continued success in all endeavors, given this 11th day of March, 2013 through Rep. Ken Gordon.
Robert A. DeLeo, Speaker of the House
Gordon also thanked Cordes for her encouragement that led him first to become more involved in Town government and, later, in State government.
“If you look around, you see the torch is passing from your generation to my generation and younger generations and it’s because of your influence. Your influence is living on and it will be living on for years to come,” Gordon said.
Congratulations, Cathy! I know Bedford is a better Massachusetts town because of your dedicated service! I am proud of my sister!
