The Dancing with the Stars craze has caused quite a phenomenon and reinvigorated a love of dance for many.  But when does fun, passion and dance turn into a business? Two Bedford moms did just that with the creation of iDance Boston.

Bedford Moms Monica Bou and Myrsini Makrakis both in their mid-40s who love life and all it entails realized that dancing brings joy to the soul. They wanted to bring to life a stylish, urban studio that is, at the same time, unpretentious and non-intimidating and so iDance Boston was created.   In addition to the creative vision for the dance classes and format, they designed the new space from the ground up, installing high quality, professional sprung floors so everyone can enjoy the benefits of dancing in a comfortable, injury free atmosphere.   This is the place to check out if you have always wanted to dance but aren’t a professional dancer as the beautifully designed studio blends dance and fitness in 35-40 classes per week, all available in a unique drop-in, open class format.

“When people hear ‘dance classes for adults,’ many believe it’s either a ballroom dance studio, a children’s studio trying to squeeze in adult programs that require a multi-week commitment and may culminate in a recital or one that does not offer a huge variety of choices,” says Monica Bou, founder and co-owner of iDance Boston.  “iDance Boston is the complete opposite of traditional dance studios.  It’s a place where you can ‘drop in’ on your favorite dance class at a moment’s notice or reserve online via our user-friendly website, and the classes are designed for only for adults.  So many people who come to the studio say, finally, this is for me!”

iDance Boston caters to all fitness and dance ability levels with a focus on the non-professional dancer.  “Some people danced as a child, some dabbled in group classes at other studios or the gym, and some have always wanted to experience the joy of dancing, but were apprehensive about the steps or looking out of place,” says Bou.  “iDance Boston is nonjudgemental and, best of all, fun.  It has a class for everyBODY.”

What makes it different? People from surrounding communities and beyond will be amazed by the 5,000 square-foot stylish studio that blends dance and fitness in more 35-40 classes per week, all available in a unique drop-in format.  No memberships, commitments – just a love to try something new – and to be able to take a class at a moment’s notice.

In addition to traditional classes such as Ballet and Tap, some of the other classes that are becoming popular are Country Line Dance, Not Your Daughter’s Dance™, Dan Zen – a yoga like dance fusion, Ballet Barre Fit, Core & Floor Barre,  Barre Balance and Barre Blast (popular classes that incorporate the ballet barre, dance and cardio to accomplish a full body workout), and fusions of traditional and new styles, culminating in InMotion, Cardio Jazz, and Groovy Hip Hop.

This recipe has proven to be a hit thus far, iDance Boston goers frequently comment that they want to just stay and “hang out” there, they are thrilled to have a place to go and be who they are while surrounding themselves with happy, energetic adults of all ages with a common goal, the joy of movement.

They are also showcasing some unique classes unlike any other studio, so they want people to know this is the place to try something new.  One such class that is a west coast craze hitting the east coast is HOT HULA. HOT HULA fitness® is a fun, new and exciting dance workout. It provides a “total body workout” in 60 minutes. HOT HULA fitness® isolates your larger muscle groups, increasing strength and definition to your core with specific emphasis on the abs, glutes, quads and arms. Inspired by the dances of the Pacific Islands, HOT HULA fitness® incorporates easy to perform dance movements set to the sounds of traditional Polynesian drum beats fused with funky Reggae music, resulting in a modern, hip fitness workout.

iDance Boston is located at 11 Cypress Drive in Burlington, Mass., off of Adams Street on the Lexington town line.  The studio is easily accessible from surrounding towns, such as Lexington, Arlington, Bedford, and Chelmsford, and is ideal for commuters working on along Middlesex Turnpike or Route 95/128.  Ample free and easy parking is available.  For schedules, promotions and more go to  https://www.idanceboston.com
