On August 19, the Selectmen unanimously approved the appointment of former Selectman Cathy Cordes to serve as a member-at-large on the Community Preservation Committee for a term ending June 30, 2014. According to a memo from Town Manager Rick Reed’s office, the Volunteer Coordinating Committee that identifies citizens willing to serve on town committees was “unable to obtain other candidates for the [one open seat on the Community Preservation Committee] after several months of publicizing the vacancy.”
Cordes, as Selectman, served on the Community Preservation Committee from its inception in 2001 and considers the community preservation and projects done during her tenure as the legacy of her years of service.

Before being elected Selectman, Cordes served in other town government capacities as an appointed member of the Finance Committee and as a member Capital Expenditures.
