One Bedford Day exhibit is up and running: The Bedford Arts and Crafts Society’s 14th Annual Regional Art Exhibition is already drawing visitors to Town Center.

Juror Susanne Meterko evaluated 69 works of art that were submitted to the Bedford Arts and Crafts Society’s 14th Annual Regional Art Exhibition on Thursday. Work by BACS’s 2013 Scholarship Winner Anne Greene is on display and beautiful 2014 calendars that showcase BACS artists’ work are for sale.

By Friday afternoon the judging was complete and Ronnie Gould’s soulful sculpture of a basset hound had won Best of Show, and the following individuals were recognized for excellence:

PAINTING
First Place: Martha Brill – Breaking Surf
Second Place: Florence Como – Nestled in the Umbrian Hills
Honorable Mention: Alyce McLaughlin – Harry of Scargo
Honorable Mention: Mary Firestone – In Drumlintown
Honorable Mention: Connie Hanley – “Seven-Thirty

DRAWING
First Place: John Dodge – Two Old Men
Second Place: Anita Feld – Fantasia 1
Honorable Mention: Maria Green – Another Little Dancer
Honorable Mention: Doris Smith – Creative Chaos
Honorable Mention: Laura Wallace – Through the Wood

SCULPTURE / 3-DIMENSIONAL
First Place: Benjamin Leiby – Triaxis
Second Place: Barbara Purchia – Bird of Paradise
Honorable Mention: Bobbi Ward – Day Into Night
Honorable Mention: Stephanie Davidson – St. Nicholas
Honorable Mention: Julie Pidgeon – Polar Bear

PHOTOGRAPHY

Organized by BACS President Jeanne Reidy along with Sue Iozzo and Laura Wallace, the show is open in Bedford’s Town Center through 3 pm on Saturday, September 21.
