Middlesex Community College and Northern Essex Community College have signed an international-education articulation agreement with Bath Spa University (BSU) in Bath, England, that allows students to complete an associate degree in selected programs at MCC or NECC then transfer to BSU to complete a bachelor’s degree.

The Memorandum of Agreement between the three institutions was signed recently by Middlesex President Carole Cowan, NECC President Lane Glenn and BSU Vice-Chancellor Christina Slade in a ceremony at MCC’s historic John Nesmith House, near the Lowell campus. The agreement will also promote short-course and semester-abroad opportunities.

“We value our local and global partners, and look forward to close and robust relationships that foster rich and unique opportunities for students and faculty at Middlesex, Northern Essex and Bath Spa University,” said Dona Cady, MCC Dean of Global Education.

“International education is essential for student success in today’s increasingly interdependent environment,” added Cady. “As students explore the diversity of other cultures and customs, they gain perspective on their own world and their place in it.”

MCC students can transfer into 10 programs at BSU, including Business Management, Creative Writing, History, Biology and Graphic Communication, explained Cady – with more programs to be added in the future. While BSU has strong programs in all of the articulation areas, it is particularly strong in the creative arts and business, she said.

Bath is England’s only UNESCO World Heritage City and has been voted one of the safest cities in Great Britain. Bath Spa University (https://www.bathspa.ac.uk) is one of the top liberal arts universities in the U.K. and offers small class sizes in historic buildings, flexible programs and entrepreneurial partnerships.

We offer more than 75 degree and certificate programs, plus hundreds of noncredit courses, during the day, evening and weekend, on our Bedford and Lowell campuses, and online. Middlesex – a great place to begin your future!
