Despite inaccurate rumors to the contrary, there are still plenty of spaces available at the Bedford Rotary’s Pay it Forward Meals for Haiti food packaging event on April 26th! “We are actively looking for volunteers to sign up to help us package about 120,000 meals on Saturday,” said Linda Cargiuolo, the event’s coordinator. “We are also hoping that everyone will bring a nonperishable food item for donation to the Bedford Community Table and Food Pantry to help fight hunger locally.”
The meal packaging event will cap off the town of Bedford’s Pay it Forward initiative, which is being implemented throughout the school system during the month of April. The Pay it Forward program and the meal packaging event were described in an interview that recently aired on the Bedford TV’s Bedford Common program.
With the approximately $30,000 that has been raised, we will be able to package about 120,000 meals,” said Rotarian Pete Colgan. ” BAE Systems, wTe Corporation, the Doubletree Hotel, Ralph and Jean Hammond, Astrum Solar and the Integra Foundation have been major sponsors, and four different Rotary Clubs — in Bedford, Billerica, Dracut and Westwood also contributed in a major way. With the backing of these major donors, and contributions big and small from about 50 additional individuals and organizations, people in and around Bedford can experience how great it feels to Pay it Forward to people we’ll probably never meet.”
The meal packaging event itself will be held between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 26th at Middlesex Community College. People interest in helping are strongly encouraged to sign up ahead of time. volunteers should sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050F4EADA92AA75-payitforward2.
